뚝섬 한강공원 수변무대 주변을 노을 특화공간으로 만드는 프로젝트였다. 공모에 당선된 안을 실제 공간으로 이어가는 일이었던 만큼 기대가 컸다. 하지만 설계를 구체화하는 과정에서 예상보다 많은 현실적인 제약과 마주했다. 처음의 생각을 지키면서 프로젝트를 끝까지 이어가기 어렵다고 판단했고, 많은 고민 끝에 최종적으로 우리가 진행하지 않기로 결정했다. 당선된 안을 직접 완성하지 못한다는 아쉬움은 크다. 그래도 어디까지 설계할 것인지 만큼이나, 어떤 설계를 하지 않을 것인지 판단하는 것 역시 우리의 일이라는 생각이 든다.

This project was conceived to transform the area surrounding the waterfront stage at Ttukseom Hangang Park into a landscape shaped around the experience of sunset. Having won the design competition, we had high expectations for seeing the proposal realized. However, as the design developed, we encountered more practical constraints than anticipated. We eventually came to the conclusion that it would be difficult to carry the project forward without compromising the original intent, and after careful consideration, we decided not to proceed. It is disappointing not to see the winning proposal through to completion. Still, we believe that knowing what not to design—and when not to proceed—is as much a part of our work as deciding what and how to design.
